San Giovanni in Laterano is the cathedral of Rome. Originally built by Constantino during the IV century AD, it was destroyed and rebuilded. The current building is from the XII century.
On the top of the building 15 monumental statues (7m, 21ft each)overlook the Piazza di San Giovanni and its namesake port. Over the central door sculpture represent the Messiah. On top of the left doorthere is a statue of Constantino taken from the Terme Imperiali del Quirinale.
The huge cetral door has magnificent bronce details. The last door on the right is the Sacred Door (Porta Santa), nand like the one at San Pietro, it is opened only during the Jubilee years.
