Description: The Basilica Aemilia was originally built in 179 BC by the consuls Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and Marcus Fulvius Nobilor. Destroyed and rebuilt several times it was a substantial and luxurious public hall sporting a floor made of marble of various colours and even a bronze tiled roof.
