July 12, 2004 Canon's First Wave of PIXMA Product Offerings to Appear On All New Line of Entry-Level Photo Printers PIXMA(R) - a new global brand unifying Canon's single function inkjet printer and all-in-one lines - appears for the first time today on the company's four new entry-level models, the PIXMA iP1500, iP2000, iP3000 and iP4000 photo printers.
PIXMA represents Canon's next steps in the evolution of photo printing: a state-of-the-art synthesis of the high quality and great speed. The word PIXMA combines "Pixel," or the core of quality digital images, and "Maximum" symbolizing the highest standard of performance. The "X" joining the two signifies the critical link between input and output highly sought by most photo consumers today.
Marked with a logo resembling a strand of DNA, the new high-tech looking PIXMA emblem also represents Canon's 60-plus year heritage and enterprising spirit as a leading camera, optics, inkjet, laser printer and copier manufacturer.
"PIXMA branded products inherit a certain pedigree -- our total commitment to the highest quality backed by leading-edge technology and performance," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ). "The first PIXMA brand printers will make a powerful statement at the entry level, offering high-end paper handling features, designer styling and photographic output all combined with the best-in-class speed Canon has become known for."
Canon's "DNA" as a camera and optics manufacturer provides the company an unparalleled expertise to deliver what consumers need to produce beautiful looking photographs - seamlessly - whether it is directly from a digital camera or printed from a computer. Canon's camera, video and printer technologies all work in tandem to provide consumers with an end-to-end imaging solution that allows them to capture, print and share their images easily and with high-quality results.
Canon's "DNA" as a document solutions company helps the company understand the printing, copying, scanning and faxing needs of small or home offices and enables Canon to incorporate high-end paper handling and image processing solutions into consumer single function and multi-function printers. This "DNA" supports the PIXMA branded products' high level of reliability.
Canon's new PIXMA iP1500, iP2000, iP3000 and iP4000 inkjet photo printers offer consumers price performance for print quality that was, until recently, only available in dedicated six-ink photo printers. The new printers will be available in stores this August with estimated selling prices ranging from $49.99 - $149.99*.
The introduction of the PIXMA brand will be supported with an advertising campaign, whose purpose is to achieve brand awareness among consumers and the sales channel. The campaign will be comprised of traditional and nontraditional print and outdoor elements. |
